JF Sky Rocket guide — Hwoarang f,n,df:4
The JF Sky Rocket is Hwoarang's Sky Rocket entered on a just frame. Pick Hwoarang in Mishima Dojo's character selector to practice it.
What it is
Sky Rocket is Hwoarang's mid launcher kick. f,n,d,df+4 — 4 during the crouch dash — gives the normal Sky Rocket. Rolling f,n,df without the d and pressing d/f and 4 (RK) on the same frame gives the just-frame version: Lethal Sky Rocket (JFSR; Korean players call it 초스카이, Japanese players 青ライ). Tekken 8 lists it in the move list.
Community frame data (Wavu Wiki and others) gives both the same startup; the JF version is much safer on block and gives more on hit, which is why it is treated as a skill check like the EWGF. Numbers can change with patches, so check a current source.
Inputs and how they are judged
| Input | Mishima Dojo verdict | What the game does |
|---|---|---|
f,n,df + 4 on one frame | JF Sky Rocket | JF Sky Rocket |
| the same with forward and neutral 1f each | Fastest JF Sky Rocket | JF Sky Rocket |
f,n,d,df + 4 | Normal Sky Rocket (went through d) | Sky Rocket |
f,n,df then a late 4 | 4 late | d/f+4 (mid Claymore) |
| 4 before the d/f | 4 early | no JF Sky Rocket |
f,df + 4, or d/f+4 alone | d/f+4 (no f,n) | d/f+4 |
f,n,d + 4 | d+4 | d+4 |
The judge is the same shared 60Hz grid as the EWGF: d/f and 4 inside one frame cell is a success. It has the same shape as the mist-step EWGF (f,n,df+2) with a different button.
The game's maximum leniency (how long f and n may be held) is unconfirmed, so the mist-step limits apply. The right-stance (flamingo) JF Sky Rocket, which is more lenient, is not covered. The game refuses the JF in the middle of a wavedash (f,n,d,df,f,n,df+4); the practice tool accepts it anyway. A success means the input condition was met; it does not reproduce a real hit or frame advantage.
Common mistakes
- Going through d: dropping to down before d/f makes a crouch dash and a normal Sky Rocket. Roll straight from neutral to d/f.
- A late 4: waiting to see the d/f is too late. Press d/f and 4 together like one button.
- Losing the neutral: sliding from f straight to d/f has no neutral and gives d/f+4. Let the stick go for a moment.
How to practice
- On the practice screen, press the Character button left of the mode tabs and pick Hwoarang.
- On the JF Sky Rocket tab every input shows the forward and neutral frames and the d/f ↔ 4 gap. A single
↘+4row in the input log means one frame. - When the rate climbs, run the 10-try challenge. With a nickname the result goes to the "JF Sky Rocket ×10" leaderboard.
- Hwoarang can also play Wavedash 10s and Backdash 10s; those records share Kazuya's leaderboards with a character tag.
